on September 23, 1729, the town of Westford
began as a prosperous farming and
manufacturing town. It’s located between the
Merrimack, Concord, and Nashua rivers and
once was home to the Stony Brook Railroad
which crossed through the middle of the
township. You’ll find Westford in
northeastern Massachusetts about 23 miles
northwest of Boston, 35 miles northeast of
Worcester, 86 miles northeast of Springfield
and 220 miles from New York City. The
Westford Regency sits on the property that
was once home to the Birch Toll Farm. The
property was purchased in 1983 with the plan
to build Westford’s first full service
hotel. Construction began in 1984. Within a
year the hotel opened its doors -- on August
1, 1985.
Today, Westford is mostly a bedroom
community. Several large high tech
companies, including Cisco, Hewlett Packard,
IBM, and Matrix One, operate major
facilities in town. Westford is also home to
Kimball Farm and Nashoba Valley Ski Area
which provide both winter and summer
adventures. |
